The Relapse members have a strong passion for music stemming from eclectic origins. Each member having extremely different tastes in music with influences spanning the likes of childrens shows theme songs, advertisement jingles from the 80's, polyphonic ringtones and European emergency vehicle sirens. As a result the Music of The Relapse is strongly diverse. Quite often a distinctive earthy based rhythm section is contrasted by harmonic vocals and melodic/driving guitars. "One day we will write a song with 100 instruments in it and people will say those are the guys who wrote that song with 100 instruments in it. That is a dream of mine. That is what drives me. That is why I play the drums. That is why sometimes I wear pants and other times don't." - Calvin (Drummer for The Relapse). The Relapse are young, versatile, stupid, underpaid, hungry, well tanned and keen to forge a new sound in the Australian music scene.

Lachy, Tom and Andrew each bring their own unique view on music to the band, spanning from Grunge to Pop to Hip-Hop together into a rock-outfit that is not scared to take off the distortion and use soft dynamics, then bring it way back up the next song and fill the room with sound. Based in Melbourne, we love seeing local acts and want to become prominent in the local scene. There is no better feeling that to have people singing along to songs that you have written. We play so that we and those who listen can find this feeling.
