Ren Stone is a newly developed solo project by infectious multi instrumentalist and founder of world music group Rhythm Hunters, Rendra Freestone. Ren Stone brings a fresh lyric based sound to folk and conscious roots music. Ren Stone’s project takes him back to his roots of singer/songwriter folk music, inspired by the movement of conscious roots and his background of traditional Indonesian music – largely the provinces of Aceh and West Sumatra, with thought provoking and emotive lyrics. Influenced by his time spent playing with Rhythm Hunters, Chaika, Nahko & MFTP, Nicky Bomba and on the same festival circuit as the likes of Trevor Hall, Dustin Thomas, Rising Appalachia, Kevin James etc; Ren Stone sets to inspire change with his audience and create music though his personal journeys, philosophies, travels and experiences. As the long standing force behind world music and percussive heavyweights Rhythm Hunters, Ren has directed some of the largest drumming events in Australia
