Ricky Wilson grew up in suburbian Canberra where his local beach - Lake Burley Griffin's Yarralumla Bay - had no surf, no girls, no music but was occaisionally safe to swim in when there was no Blue-green Algae. It was a dull existence for the man who longed to live at the beach. Eventually, Ricky grew tired of the lack of beach culture in his inland city, but instead of moving to the beach, he brought the beach to the people. One day he headed down to Yarralumla Bay with his guitar in hand and started to play. Unfortunately Ricky's infectious Surf/Ska music was lost on the conservative families of Yarralumla and they picked him up, ran to the water and threw him in, not unlike something from a bad 60's beach sitcom. After recovering from his Blue-Green Algae related illness, Wilson headed back down to Yarralumla bay again and still does to this day to bring his music to the people with the dream of Canberra one day having a beach culture to rival that of Bell's Beach, Surfers
