An all-female identifying group from Maningrida, NT, Ripple Effect Band formed through a long-term collaboration with Jodie Kell from the University of Sydney. Whilst following in the tradition of saltwater rock from the top end, they are forging new ground and a new sound as the first women from their community to play instruments and make their own band, sung in the languages of their people: Ndjébbana, Burarra, Na-kara and Kune. Since their EP release in 2018, they have become a ground-breaking force in the current Australian landscape, backed by their contagious passion for the power of music to heal, connect and make a difference. From the bass grooves of Tara Rostron, the lively drums of Arnhem Land's best female drummer Jolene Lawrence to the powerhouse front line of vocal harmonies, this band is exciting audiences as they prepare for the release of their first LP, co-produced by Jodie Kell and Tara Rostron. Don't miss a listen to this refreshing distinctive saltwater rock band.
