Robert F Cranny is a work of art. His forthcoming release is a collection of songs written and recorded live in front of a passing audience of art lovers and curious tourists, inside an exhibit at the MONA, in Tasmania. Best known for his contributions to indie pop, RFC produced the first two albums by Sarah Blasko and is the writer of songs like “Don’t U Eva” and “Perfect Now”. He has played with revered indie artists, such as Tom Morgan, Spiral Stairs and seminal Melbourne indie band, Gersey. His solo work is in the vein of hero Don Walker, as a chronicler of Australian life. Like his writing for alt-country band Peachfield, the piano is central. These recent recordings were completed at MONA with old friend Ben Salter producing. RFC was a producer on Salter’s debut album, who returns the favour on this EP. 2025 will be a busy year for RFC, with two Blasko albums receiving anniversary treatment, former twee-pop band The Gaze planning a vinyl release and new band Party Crashers putting finishing touches on a garage-Australiana album produced with doyen of the Sydney scene, Owen Penglis.
