'Romance of the Sane' are an unlikely electro duo originating from the tiny farming community of Wee Waa. In a town where every second person's surname is Phelps, it is no surprise that the members are James and Samuel Phelps. James contributes songs, synths and singing. Samuel does beats, bass, samples and production. James has previously worked with live bands specialising in retro electro covers before forming 'Romance of the Sane' as an outlet for his original songs. His lyrics are succinct and universal as they depict and interpret the complexity of the romantic microcosm. James utilises his arsenal of crusty drum machines and made-in-the-80s analog synthesizers to faithfully evoke the classic sounds of an early electro era. Samuel draws on his extensive experience in sound design and digital audio production to transport these vintage sounds into the 21st century to produce a unique aural experience that is Romance of the Sane. In a bizarre and ironic twist this fledgling
