Treading the fine line between lo-fi bungalow boogie and tropical horror-funk, Melbourne via Perth’s ‘Rumpus Room’ have developed their own brand of DIYWO (Do it yourself with others). What began as a minimalist drum-machine driven recording project for the duo quickly ballooned into a lush full band sound, aided by a handful of incredible guest musicians. Their debut album Rumpus Rumours was self-recorded, mixed and produced in bedrooms and bungalows as an exercise in the perils of complete creative control. It is Rumpus Room’s first collection of songs, with another album of no fixed genre currently in the works.
