If alt-country is a broad church, Salonistas are heretics. Theirs is insurgent country: soulful, lyric driven, steeped in the musical heartland of Sydney’s inner west but with a sound all their own. Salonistas write what they know. Love, grog and bars. Slow trains and big ole cars. Wandering the world, and the trials and tribulations of coming home. Featuring lead vocalist and songwriter Rivkah Shoshana, lead guitarist Michael Harris, guitarist/songwriter Andrew Bristow, bassist Stu Boydell and drummer Jamie Cahill, Salonistas “swim gracefully in the humid bayou where streams of country meet the river of soul" (Marrickville Music Festival). Their debut album produced by Bob Spencer (Skyhooks, The Angels, ARIA Hall of Fame) is due out in 2026. For fans of Lucinda Williams, Kasey Chambers, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers and Hurray for the Riff Raff.
