Proud Dad Sam Atkin (of Shit Narnia fame) would like to announce his debut LP (i.e. CD) 'Gently, Quietly' (3s. 6oz., 5tr, 45min, WSC001) 'Gently, Quietly' is like drinking at the digital dam; an endlessly inventive and unplaceable suite of avant-electronic inner-space exploration, marrying the headbending of late OPN w/ th. ornate, driving physicality of Tim Hecker's VIRGINS + th. grounded and acute narrative drive of a Gerald Murnane novel. to play that back without th. jargon: this remarkable album is an emotional, vivid, lived portrait of life lived in the South West and in one's own head, of being estranged, frightened and uncertain in vast, flat landscapes. drone music at its most human, immersive and touching. as headscratching as it is stomach-knotting and emotionally visceral, 'Gently, Quietly' is where the robots become agricultural, windswept and emotionally stumped, people. an endlessly replayable debut.
