Sam Hughes is a creative artist working in music and visual arts fields. She is a self taught guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, performing from 5 years old. Her practice involves producing contemporary music that blends acoustic instrumentation with an edge of experimental electronic manipulation. She is especially interested in the effect of both gender and the visual image on music creation and perception, having written a thesis on the former and working towards an honours creative work with the latter. Previously she has performed at Illawarra and Riverina venues and festivals solo with acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals, as well as collaboratively in band projects.
