Sam Newton writes songs that cut through the noise, creating music that draws listeners in and keeps them close. The new EP This Is Where I Want To Be is a collection of recent singles and unreleased tracks, ahead of a new full-length album that Newton will release later in 2025. Over the past decade, Sam has independently released three full-length albums, an EP, and numerous singles. His debut album, Set in Stone (2014), introduced his ability to craft intimate and personal stories through music. His second album, Violet Road (2016), built on this foundation, earning a nomination as a finalist for Album of the Year in the Australian Roots Music Awards (ARMA). Between Violet Road and his third album, Stare Into The Dark (2018), Sam set himself the ambitious challenge of writing 100 songs in 100 days, documenting the process and refining several of those tracks for his next release. Stare Into The Dark saw him delve into darker, more introspective themes, including love, loss, and resilience. Sam’s dedication to performing has seen him play at a range of festivals, including Dashville Skyline, Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Nundle Rocks and Nimbin Roots Festival. Through his live shows—whether solo or with the Sam Newton Band—he has cultivated a loyal following. His music has also been supported by community and college radio stations and grassroots DJs across Australia, Europe and North America. Whether on stage or in the studio, Sam remains focused on writing songs that are honest, relatable, and deeply human. His music continues to evolve, but the heart of his work—connecting with listeners through meaningful stories—remains the same.
