Described as “evocative” and “surreal” music “to bewilder, amuse, and provoke,” the works of composer Sarah Genevieve Burghart Rice have won acclaim and inspired intense debate. She is director of the Gender and Voice Inquiry Lab at Penn State’s School of Music, where she also teaches. Burghart Rice received an ASCAP/Morton Gould Young Composer Award and the Salvatore Martirano Award.
