Melbourne-based Yorta Yorta artist Scott Darlow shares new single ‘Summer’s Coming’. A song inspired by his friendship with Michael Gudinski, it precedes his forthcoming album Deadly Heart. “‘Summer’s Coming’ is a song I wrote shortly after Michael Gudinski passed away. I was so excited to be signed to Michael’s personal label, Reclusive Records, and work with the greatest legend this country has ever known, and importantly, someone I considered a mate. And when we lost him suddenly, I was so sad. Devastated. And honestly, more than anything, I was just sad that I lost my mate. He was so kind. Yet he never shied away from telling you hard truths. He was so smart, wise, and cool. And when we lost him, I was grieving a mate, but also, wondering where my life was going musically now he was gone. So as I sat with my guitar just miserable, this chorus came all at once. “Summer’s coming again, I know it’s hard and the cold feels like it’s never ending. Just hold on a little longer, the sunshine’s coming, you are getting stronger. Days are getting warmer”. Not to sound too crazy, but it felt like Michael gave me this chorus, telling me to just put my head down and keep working hard, and believe it will be ok. So this is Michael’s song.” – Scott Darlow
