SectApe is the brainchild of Colombian-Australian guitarist Mauro Ochoa (Electric I), in conjunction with musicians from New Zealand and Melbourne. Influenced by The Mars Volta and The Black Angels (among others), the band describes themselves as fuzz spunk rock, playing 'soundtracks for insurrection'. With darkly intelligent and challenging compositions played with great technical skill and atmospheric electronic soundscapes, SectApe combine heavy prog rock sensibilities with traditional Latin rhythms. SectApe released their debut EP, 'Sect of Apes', in September 2017.
