".. Not many can drop the instrumental accompaniment and simply sing a beautiful song that captivates and completely silences an audience but Selk Hastings did just that." - Fremantle Herald. Selk Hastings is a singer-songwriter from Western Australia who plays crooked folk music which smacks of the haunting red landscape she was born into way up in the Northern deserts. Over the last few years Selk has grown some gig wiles troubadouring around the music venues of Perth and the southern country. The sonic beauty and honesty of her live shows is seeing audiences fall in love with her music. She has lent vocals to folk outfit The Kill Devil Hills, and can be heard as the female voice on both of their nationally acclaimed albums 'Heathen Songs' and 'The Drought'. She has recently recorded her forthcoming debut EP with 'Torn and Frayed' record label owner Andrew McGee, at his farm in Nagambe, Melbourne, due out soon.
