Australian artist Serena Rose creates cinematic, slow-burn alternative music shaped by mood, texture and space. Drawing from psychedelic rock, film scores and the natural world around her, her work prioritises atmosphere and emotional depth over conventional structure. Before launching her project in 2021, Serena studied Music and Audio and began composing for film and screen - an influence that continues to inform her restrained, visual approach to sound. Often compared to the dreamlike quality of Mazzy Star, her music blends drifting guitars, grounded rhythm sections and ethereal vocal delivery into immersive, late-night soundscapes. Her new single ‘Wild One’ was written while living in a secluded cabin in the Byron Bay hinterland of eastern Australia. Surrounded by dense forest, creeks and fog after rain, the setting shaped the song’s quiet, reflective tone. Built around reverb-drenched guitars, steady live drums and spacious production, the track unfolds gradually, favouring restraint and emotional atmosphere over dynamic peaks. The single was mixed and mastered by Michael Paul Stavrou, bringing clarity and depth to its slow-burn cinematic quality. Serena’s previous releases have received support from PBS FM, 4ZZZ, RDU 98.5FM (NZ), and Triple J Unearthed, alongside coverage from AAA Backstage and Broken 8.
