Edit history

Shadows Without Substance was originally formed with a sense of urgency. They had no members, no fans, no songs, no name and a gig within a month. Within 3 weeks they formed a literal band of misfits, wrote 6 songs, picked a name and practiced their asses off for that first Ric’s gig. With a handful of melancholic songs with equally suggestive titles and 6-months on from that first gig, they released their debut single ‘Going Down’ in November 2018. This band has evolved from a group of shy individuals to the kind of family you would complain about at a fancy restaurant for being too loud. While the band sees themselves as your typical mid-20s tragics, they love nothing more than making music without restrictions that is important to them and, hopefully, to the listener. “Out of all the bands I‘ve seen, they’re easily the most recent” – That guy from our first gig “They were very loud” – Concerned listener “Yeah I reckon I might get some food after this” - Trevor
