Shambhala was formed in the Hunter valley region of NSW in late 2006. They soon recorded a 5-track demo and started gigging at local pubs and clubs around Maitland and Newcastle to good responses from local crowds. Their drummer big al had a fire fighting accident and broke a finger around christmas which meant time off to write new songs. They relaunched in June 2007 again playing local venues to good responses from enthusiastic crowds They gigged until the end of 2007 when they began work on pre-production for their debut eP. They recorded at rock the Nation studios a local analogue studio with engineer Geoff Mullard, and finished mixing in April. Mastering was done by Rob Taylor at prick up your ears on the central coast and the EP was released on July 19. Their 2006 demo was recently featured on downunda thunda radio including the song "Black dove" which was re-recorded for the EP release.
