Shelley’s Murder Boys, a band that takes you through the depths of Sydney to the hills of Appalachia. Playing energetic old-time favourites, dark folk classics and originals inspired by the trials and tribulations of our time, SMB will be sure to take you on an old-timey adventure. ‘Above is a Roar’ is the band’s debut album featuring Shelley on fiddle and vocals, Jimmy Murray on guitar and vocals, and Joe Glover on banjo and harmonica. The album features guest performances by Rob Hirst (Midnight Oil, Backsliders), Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil) and Jake Pember (The Button Collective). Above is a Roar was produced and recorded by Jim Moginie and Brent Clark at Oceanic studios. Shelley's Murder Boys have appeared at Illawarra Folk Festival, Girrakool Blues Festival, The End Festival, Bangalow Bluegrass and BBQ Festival, Nimbin Roots Festival, Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival, Cutthroat Folk Festival and Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival.
