Shields Down is the moniker for Honolulu-based husband and wife duo Ben Fairfield and Lisa Chuang and Cincinnati-based Leif Fairfield. The band uses thick harmonies, handmade instruments, and cut/paste production. The music draws far inspiration from traditional Hawaiian music to pop standards and strident shoegaze. They released their first album Powdered Sugar Avalanche in 2010.
