Formerly an all-electronic outfit, multi-instrumentalists Sigh & the Highs were formed in Melbourne during mid-2019 out of a desire to play guitar-based music again. Lead vocalist Si Francis penned a collection of songs inspired by a deep nostalgia for suburban and popular culture, miss-spent youth, and the passing of a dear friend. Soon, Bass player Claire Less and drummer Craig Thompson would provide lush vocal harmonies, bringing the songs to life. The results quickly developed into a signature sound for the 3-piece, echoing mid-90's indie rock with hints of bittersweet 70's folk, expertly blending universal lyrical themes with the band's unique, casual groove. In their short history, Sigh & the Highs have recorded a self-titled album (available on Bandcamp), streamed live performances, and during a recent decrease in pandemic related restrictions, debuted a live set from inside a shopfront to an audience standing outside on the street.
