'Thought I Knew' is Signal The Troops' first single. It was written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic and deals with life, love and loss... all in the space of four minutes. The song was inspired by the likes of Ball Park Music, Josh Pyke, Vance Joy and Yellowcard. It captures singer-songwriter Luke Hantzis' final year in Sydney, before he relocated to Kalgoorlie in rural Western Australia in January 2021 to begin a career as a teacher. Prior to becoming teacher, Hantzis practised as a lawyer, while writing music and performing live from time-to-time.
