the simian bio, or, how not to be a knob How do you write your own rock bio without sounding like a complete knob-jockey? This is one of the many questions a young band faces when emerging from the cosy chrysalis of the garage into the savage rock n’ roll wilderness of bars and clubs. And suddenly a guitarist becomes a publicist. Such is life. Basically, simian is a young band from the inner west of Sydney who play melodic acoustic rock. Our songs are quirky and explorative – they’re about strange stuff like Jesus owning a boat or an answering machine that records dreams. We write around and about these odd little thoughts that gather in the corners of our minds, hoping that there’s something useful and unique for discerning listeners amongst our mental bric-a-brac. We came together from different musical backgrounds, some classically trained (Pat, on keys), some former DIY metal disciples (Callen, drums, & Pete, bass).
