Simon Johnston’s music is a blend of tasty grooves, bluesy riffs, silky solos and soulful melodies served up on a platter of hard truths. The Sydney based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is also an artful producer. His tracks recreate classic tones of the 60s and 70s while maintaining originality and musical integrity. A balance of spiritual and edgy, Johnston’s gospel themes may not resonate with all, but his raspy vocals and arresting rhythms will get a hold on you. After doing the hard yards of the Australian east coast pub scene with rock and blues bands, Johnston’s work is the culmination of two decades of industry experience, formal training and life slog. Having been labelled every anti under the sun, anti-honest he ain’t.
