Taking the ‘less-is-more’ approach to a whole new level, Sketti Tangles is minimalist on his latest track ‘The Long Way Down’. Swimming in a sea of reverb, Brisbane based producer Sketti Tangles shows how a minimal approach to songwriting and instrumentation can really pay off. Penned after the end of his marriage, ‘The Long Way Down’ is a tale of a love lost, and it’s melancholic approach to balladry and indie-rock is heart-wrenching and impactful. That minimal approach to his song structures extends out to his song-writing process. His home studio consists of a war-weary laptop and a single microphone. Taking the bedroom producer aesthetic on the go, Sketti Tangles was one half of enigmatic Aussie band The Pryor Theory, and produced for hip hop collective Cornerstone Section. The producer began his foray into solo material after seeing The Avalanches live; not a bad way to kick off a career.
