Triple J Unearthed Founding members Denison Phillips (Deno) and Chris Thorley started playing guitar together at sixteen in a high school cover band called Damnation (he he). In these early years they began to write music, but only performed one of these songs ‘Closed doors’. They drifted in different directions over the years with Deno in a cover band and Chris playing with the energetic Nothing Yet. Years went by, but the boys got back jamming together after lure of writing again became too strong.... Deno's haunting melodies, when coupled with Chris's strong rhythm's and heartfelt lyrics, allowed Sleepa to inhale it's first breath.... Finding Dave on the drums was a big step for the duo. A drummer who’s style was tough, clean, technical, and tasteful. A drummer who was passionate about being a purist and never attaching a second bass pedal to his kit!
