Featuring the infamous duo of Roderic Fester and G Dubya Clothespainter, smiling for beginners emerged out of the post-post post modern music scene of fitzroy and brunswick (suburbs of Melbourne Australia) in 2002. The duo formed the band after returning from the competitive salsa circuit in Cuba, where they both wore headpieces made of fruit. Since this time S4B has played in a variety of venues in Australia, and has even visited war torn coutries abroad. Along the way the band has influenced a fresh wave of artists through their experimental and philosophical musical musings, which at times makes reference to root vegetables. Their 2005 release 'naked pumpkins' was recorded with Australias top musicians and upon release raced to number one in three countries: Liechtenstein, Tonga and Australia (on the under-underground indi music charts). The album has been described as: "music to make spaghetti to" by Chef Ibsum from musiccritic.com.au/pasta. For more information on the band, or
