Smoky Seas have just pressed their eagerly anticipated debut single - 'The Boat' - to be released in February 2014. This recording showcases the dramatic energy and scope of the band. The title track is a rocking stomper swelling with palpable tension, while the B-side 'Impatience' demonstrates the group's theatric lyricality, with intimate introspection fueling a full-blown crescendo of crashing drums and triumphant horns. Live, Smoky Seas are a funkier outfit, with their more recent material hinting at rootsy-reggae influences in the mix. Smoky Seas have plans to record an EP in 2014, and to spend the year gigging and touring as much as possible.
