From listening and playing music from a young age, Tom explored various genres and styles that resonated heavily. This primarily included rock, punk & alternative music all the way through from the 1960's to the 2010's. From here, many names, demos & projects later, Soma Nights was created in 2020 to encompass the chill, Lo-Fi, bedroom tracks that Tom listened to during the late 2010's & early 2020's. Although the project name and style was understood in 2020, it would take a number of years of trialling, testing and playing with sound design before any tracks were ready to release. With a deep appreciation for sounds and artists such as Mac Demarco, CASTLEBEAT, Vansire & more, the urge to develop similar sounds and utilise new techniques to create tracks that resonated with people based on person experiences allowed Soma Nights to become an outlet for the more emotional and heavier tracks that he was looking to develop. Music project based in Melbourne, Australia.
