On a hot summers night in Canberra, songwriter Lizzy Rutten recruited five local musicians to bring life to her energetic folk songs. By 2010 the numbers had swelled to seven, with two more songwriters, Emily Vera and Jane Leyshon joining to create the dynamic and lively sound that you hear today. The sounds of Son of Rut are grounded in guitars and keyboards. Trumpet, 4 part harmonies and an unflagging rhythm section fuse together to create a stunning landscape of original music. They can be found in all good music venues Canberra, and beyond.
