Songsta is Stephen Marquis; composer, producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist. As an independent artist, Songsta has written and produced music for singers, film, TV and advertising as well as working as a freelance bassist on the Sydney circuit. Writing in all styles of music from techno and groove to jazz and rock, the Songsta soundscape is diverse and far-reaching. After years behind the scenes, Songsta is now releasing his original work to the public. The focus is on the treatment and character of each song rather than the sound of one individual singer or band. A close listening quickly reveals a great depth, thoughtfulness and artistry within this body of music that is as engaging on the first hearing as the one hundredth. Choose your favourite style from the Popsta, Rocksta, Groovsta, Acousta or Jazzsta catalogues. Sit back, relax, turn up the volume and enjoy a return to melodic, lyrical and musical songs.
