Sonic Delays are an Australian rock band. Formed in 2008 the group currently consists of Aimee & Tim Howells. They were originally known as the The Plenaries before evolving into Sonic Delays in 2009. The bands early sound was initially inspired by jangle pop before evolving to incorporate elements of shoegazing. In October 2008 they released ‘A Wonderful Thing’. The EP would earn the band a support slot with New Yorkers Asobi Seksu. November 2008 saw the release of ‘Evil’. April 2009 would see Tim and Aimee go into the studio to record ‘Are We Here?’ and change their name to Sonic Delays. The single would be played on UK national radio BBC 6Music by Tom Robinson who described it as ‘wonderful widescreen stuff’. In September 2009 the band released mini-album Everest’ and continued to perform into 2010. Sonic Delays released their final single ‘Colours’ in March 2011 before going on hiatus. The band returned ten years later in October 2021 with the release of new single ‘Coast’.
