Born in Newcastle, NSW - Raised in South Auckland, NZ. SONNY has been singing since he was a child, singing in church, his father a ska and reggae singer, and older brother (a top notch guitar player and singer) helped inspire his sound. Originally a drummer, SONNY picked up a guitar at age 14 (as his sister had started getting good at it and he wanted to be more like dad than her) and has since slowly widened his instrumentation abilities. Inspired by Moses Sumney, Frank Ocean, Anderson Paak., and Jordan Rakei, Vocal melodies paint the dominant picture over minimal beats and soundscapes.
