Introducing Speed Updriver. The name of the band is Speed Updriver, the name of the artist is Speed Updriver. I am Speed Updriver. The whole world's turning Speed Updriver. So...who is Speed Updriver...and what is Modern Beat? Once upon a time I played in a band called The ACCENT. Then nothing...the space between shadows and substance, between things and ideas... except for a headfull of songs, and a desire to get them out. Now is that time...but as what?...everyone loves a category. Indie (well...independent yes...although I'm a little better dressed) alternative (to what?), pop (in the classic 60's sense yes...but today...please), rock (be more specific, I'm not Aerosmith), powerpop (one man's powerpop is another man's Styx), punk (as an ethos), mod (is not a musical style, rather a religion), so Modern Beat is as good a descripion as I can make. Based on the classic British Beat, as reinterpreted by the Jam, and brought into the 21st Century. 100% original Modern Beat...from
