Spiralling is a side project from Sydney based IDM producer Loopsnake, best known for his past work as the host of Liquid Electric on FBi Radio. Inspired by the slowed-and-reverbed trend of the mid-2010s, his new album 'Harsh Ambient' was created by self-sampling some of the most lush, evocative textures from his back catalogue, stretching and layering them, then running them through a harsh-noise-wall style effects chain, creating a sound that combines crystalline new age textures and swirling kaleidoscopic delays with an undercurrent of cold earth and immense physical weight. This album releases digitally on Friday 14/8 on Slack Magic Records, but will be made available on cassette before the end of the year. In my humble opinion, this is a slightly 'challenging' record and might not be perfectly suited to a purely relaxation focused ambient show, with the exception of track 3 (Earth Spiral).
