Spookyland is the moniker for Australian outsider musician Marcus Gordon. A polarising singer who has received critical acclaim and contempt for his "aedonial and snarling" vocals (Pitchfork). Drawing influence from German romanticism and Jungian Depth Psychology, Spookyland's music is marked by it's unique brand of lyricism which focuses on unconscious subject matter. ‘The Roses of Silence’ is the final SPOOKYLAND single before they unveil their sophomore album ADAM SHIVERING 04/06/2021. Delving further into 80’s inspired post-punk ‘The Roses of Silence’ is a hypnotic tour into the unconscious mind. “I wanted to penetrate into the heroic and magical...” Marcus Gordon says of the song “but i’m making this leap from a desparate place. It’s a song about salvation, but it’s a little too late”. ‘The Roses of Silence’ was recorded with THE TAMBOURINE GIRLS and features a cameo from Marcus’ friend and collaborator TERRY SERIO.
