Spyre formed in 2005 when founding members Chris and Dave thought it would be a laugh to bring their common friends together and make some metal. The idea worked out better then they expected After months of song writing, Spyre's first gig was headlining the Annandale Hotel in August 05. With encouragement from Pete Dougherty from Goose studios in Leichhardt they worked on their repertoire and wrote and recorded the 7 track EP “Σ” (Sigma). Now with the EP finished, they are ready to rock. With a metal sound that blends the likes of Killswitch Engage and Daysend (to list a few), Spyre has sparked a fresh sound in metal. Heavy, Driving riffs coupled with awesome rhythms and catchy melodies, makes Spyre a force to be reckoned with. Since forming, the band has headlined their debut gig at the Annandale Hotel with Dawn of Destruction and The Unemployed Super Villains. Spyre has also headlined at the Vic on The Park, Enmore and supported The Eternal at Metal Eviluotion at The Empire
