STARLINGS' was started in a steel city studio in the spring of 2009 to provide a rhythmical release from the humdrum offerings of the daily grind. Jet set on their melodic mission, the boys spent their early days under the wonderful wing of ultra-psych producer Richard Norris (The Grid // Time & Space Machine // Beyond The Wizards Sleeve) blending Balearic beats with cosmic synths to fashion a funk-tinged toe-tapping shimmering disco sound. The band were born on the “Balearic” concept and are influenced by Talk Talk, house music, Simple Minds (New Gold Dream), Heaven 17, New Order, Giorgio Moroder, disco, Fools Gold, sunshine, starlight… STARLINGS’ dazzling debut single ‘Weight in Gold’ was unfurled to the world in December 2010. From the flicker of their first release, STARLINGS have been coveted by NME (ones to watch 2011), METRO (ones to watch 2011) and The Guardian (New band of the day No. 928) (Record label on band page is DISTRO, the band is unsigned.
