The sounds from your dreams
A new solo project since playing music with friends is currently outlawed. Long live the isolation!!!
Dion Casey – the backbone of Static - singer, songwriter, guitarist, pianist and saxophonist. With his diversity of musical interests Dion has contributed to many projects. He has been part of saxophone quartets, a vocal harmony trio, a number of different rock bands, and was the resident ‘Piano Man’ at the Vic Cocktail Lounge. In addition, Dion has performed at the Riverina Jazz festival, the National Voices festival and has composed music for short films. As much as the word ‘eclectic’ has come to be overused in describing peoples’ music, unfortunately I can think of no other way of succinctly describing the wonderfully diverse collection of songs that makes Dion’s style. He is equally at home on in acoustic mode, either solo on guitar or piano, as he is with full band electric guitar mode with the distortion pedals cranked. His wealth of original songs enable him to be able to perform at intimate acoustic evenings, full blown rock concerts, and everything in between Since
Static is an upcoming artist with roots in the punk and DIY scene. After spending over a decade playing in punk and grunge bands, Joseph Ling has now turned to producing nostalgic bedroom pop. While polished and catchy, Static still maintains a low-fi aesthetic which only enhances the nostalgia and emotion contained within the music. Inspired by 80s post-punk and pop, yet fresh and new; Static is the warm hug from an old friend you didn't realise you missed.
