Stephen Brandon is one of three siblings originally from Byron Bay. He played in popular High school bands such as Cactus rock as an underage performer. He moved to Sydney to study arts at NSW university, forming Sinister Grin a power trio releasing Mum Drove the Getaway Car and Under a Different Sky (Mushroom distribution) and then his debut solo album Two Hours Away 2004 (mgm distribution) to critical acclaim and widespread national mainstream and community radio play. After travelling to Europe in 2005 for what was supposed to be a string of shows, Brandon ended up staying, living there based in Berlin for almost 15 years. He received a Berlin arts grant with his album Floating on a Limb and made a living touring and performing tirelessly across the continent both as a soloist/ singer-songwriter and also with his band featuring Berlin drum legend Kay Luebke and violinist David Engler (Daye).
