STEVE ASHLEY new album “INTO THE SUN” Speaking from his hometown on the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide, Steve believes that this is a very timely and welcome moment to be releasing his new album - …“with the lockdown lifting and live gigs likely back on the horizon again sometime soon, people are understandably hungry for community, music and connection right now . . . I’m very proud of these songs and I hope they deliver an ultimately positive & upbeat vibe for a downbeat time”. Traversing roots, blues and americana, the new album shows a further refinement and maturing of Steve’s songwriting and musicianship since “Blue Highways”. Like it’s predecessor, “Into the Sun” features a stellar cast of supporting South Australian musicians and vocalists (this time including Gus the rooster). Also, a - class production work by award-winning Mick Wordley (Mixmasters) and the legendary Chris Parkinson (The Yearlings) who also adds some mighty fine guitar. “All that Glitters”, the first single release from the album is a great introductory track and sets the benchmark perfectly for all that follows. “Fortunate enough to be a part of a song writing retreat up in the Gold Coast a while back, hosted by Loose Acoustic and facilitated by the amazing Canadian singer songwriter, Jon Brooks. I was struggling to come up with a song at the time, but the idea for this one finally surfaced whilst trying to come to grips with the incongruities of the place.” With fine songs and great musical accompaniment “Into the Sun” is a totally accessible album that only grows in stature with repeated listens. If you are a fan of roots, blues and Americana this is a release that’s well worth checking out.
