Like the troubadours of old, Steve Northeast has traveled the world singing his songs that tell tales of life – what he sees around him and what he’s experienced himself. His career as a musician started early in his native Australia when MTV turned the promising young athlete into a lover of music – especially the powerful bands like U2, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and various bands from Australia such as Midnight Oil, even those way before Steve’s time like Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. “Music is made up of two things – melodies and lyrics,” explains the young bard, “a songwriter decides which matters more to him – the melody or the lyrics. If you listen to any song, either the beat and the tune override the words, or the words override the music. Both are necessary and valuable, but the people that influenced me most wrote meaningful, important lyrics, so that’s the direction I took.” One envisions Steve traveling the Australian continent, his guitar strapped to his back, playing
