Stewart Kapeen (aka STOOZ) is a 19-year-old Indigenous hip hop artist from Ballina, NSW. A proud Ngyambul/ Bundjalung rapper/singer/songwriter – STOOZ graduated from the school of hard knocks, and his goal is to become a role model for young Indigenous people Australia-wide. Music is like therapy for this exciting young artist – he started his journey playing guitar around campfires with family, now he is exploring the world of a songwriter, and becoming an exciting young voice in contemporary music. In 2023, STOOZ was involved in a High School songwriting/music video project with charity org DESERT PEA MEDIA (Cabbo Crew – Wanna Go Home). Since then – Stewy successfully applied to join Desert Pea Media’s ‘DPM FUTURES PROGRAM’ a 12-month Creative, Personal and Professional mentoring program for Indigenous Creatives. The HOLD IT DOWN project is an outcome of this project. Stay tuned for more!
