Stranger Town History 1997: Four young men leave the security of their rural upbringing in the tiny south western town of Walpole with encouragement from Rick Steele who was a local favourite. They rent a house in Leederville and searched for a drummer. So began the journey. They joined a group of bands playing weekly shows at the now demolished Swanbourne Hotel with other upcoming Perth acts including The Sleepy Jackson, Nathan Gaunt & Jon Butler. The Music Stranger Town have never followed the trends. Instead writing music they love and as it comes, with most songs evolving from week long writing sessions. Some songs start with an idea or a riff whilst others come from spontaneous jamming. Vocalist Ray describes his lyrics as, "observations of a particular moment in time, whether it be personal, social or a view of current events or nonsense."
