A singular, ethereal voice in Sydney music, Sunscreen is a rock band based on the friendship of Sarah Sykes (vocals) and Alexander McDonald (guitar). Since 2017 they’ve honed their self-described style of 'dream garage' — “that's dream pop times garage rock” jokes Sarah — while building a small but dedicated following due to their magnetic live performances. Sunscreen's ferocious new single ‘Ultraviolet’ is "a song about realising you're chasing a fantasy," says Sarah. "We can become so obsessed with a situation’s potential we trick ourselves into seeing something that isn't there. But what's the reality?’ Regarding the writing, she adds: ‘Alex always used to play this catchy guitar riff at practice. I recorded it on my phone one day, and added lyrics soon after.' Sunscreen are set to finally unveil their debut album 'Everything You Gave Me' on 21 November, 2025. Recorded four years ago, the band longed to share it sooner, and invite you to step back in time with them.
