Surf Shop Cops are an indie punk band from Boorloo/Perth, WA. They make power pop songs your dad would like. Tuneful, fun, hearty and honest. Like if Paul Kelly joined Green Day in the early 90s. In their latest single Girl Colours, lyricist Michael Slitenbachs dives headfirst into reflections upon masculinity, sexuality, boyhood, and self. It's boldly direct, brutally honest, but still fun. This two minute pop punk poem demonstrates the lyrical prowess, and the musical brevity which makes Surf Shop Cops such an emerging force. "It was so natural to write. I felt like I'd finally found the words to say how I'd been feeling for years." Launched with a packed headline show at Fremantle institution Mojos, and paired with a slick DIY music video, Girl Colours is a sign of great things to come. Surf Shop Cops' sophomore album will arrive in early 2026, and will feature all 3 singles they've released so far this year. Girl Colours is available on all streaming platforms now.
