Tailer was formed in 2003 when singer/guitarist Tristan Holubnytschyj found he shared a love of Australian rock band Something for Kate with bass player Russell Stubbs and drummer Tom Holubnytschyj. The three members automatically clicked and the initial SFK songs quickly led to the band forming their own identity. In 2004 the band flogged out a heap of covers so they could get some gigs as a pub rock band. As Tristan worked in a dodgy pub in Moonah this was easy and the band had their baptism of fire in the realm of cascade draught, beanies and bikies. The era as a cover band taught them many necessary life experiences such as; dodging fights, dancing with chicks, hitting people trying to steal gear, and fighting off debouched middle-aged women all without missing a note. Tailer played their covers with passion. They loved having their audience feel their emotion and, in turn, feeling the energy from their audience. What the punters enjoyed at Tailer gigs was their raw stage
