Tanya Hemi is a solo guitarist, singer-songwriter and loop mixer, who layers harmonies with catchy melodies. She was born and raised in rural New Zealand but has spent several years travelling and living abroad, and now proudly calls Perth home. With influences like Adele, Nahko Bear, Trevor Hall, Xavier Rudd, Etta James, Aaron Neville, Matt Corby, Kim Churchill, John Butler, Tash Sultan and many more, Tanya has naturally gravitated towards writing and singing her own songs. It’s a therapeutic process, she says, with her music speaking themes of cultural difference, love, home, and life struggles. Tanya works full time and devotes every spare moment to writing, creating beats, and performing them around Perth. She is currently channelling her energy and focus into collaborating with local WA artists and recording her own EP.
