Tara Coates and Sub Rosa pull no punches. It’s indie rock with raw and feisty lyrics, Think Lucinda Williams meets the The Pixies, add some tasty synth for a modern twist and you’ve got Tara Coates and Sub Rosa. The last three years have been formative for Tara’s music. In rapid succession she lost her father, was married and then became a parent herself. Through it all she emerged a more focused songwriter. After the birth of her son in 2019, she began to write and music flowed freely as did a new and cathartic vocal delivery that has found its place with her latest band, Sub Rosa. Tara has supported Mia Dyson, Shane Nicholson and Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus) amongst others. Her 2016 release ‘Wicked World' reached number two on AMRAP’s national charts, received radio airplay throughout Australia and earned her a nomination for ‘Best Female’ in the South Australian Music Awards.
