Teinne began life as a solo recording project – the brainchild of Australian vocalist and producer Tim Downey. The first batch of songs to come out of the ‘Teinne machine’ have an alternative-pop flavour and mark a departure from the folk-rock beginnings of “Tim Downey & The Little Souls”. They reveal a more ‘up-front’ attitude. Tim has invited some very special guests to help him bring the project to life in a live setting. All of the sounds on Teinne’s debut EP ‘True Type’ have been either performed or programmed solely by Tim in his Hobart based studio. The drum tracks have all been programmed which gives the recording a kind of dirty-electro vibe. This element is then married with filtered vocals for maximum muddiness. Tim’s approach to writing this collection of songs was to deconstruct Blues music and really focus on rhythm and feel. The idea is to allow the lyrics and the feel of the music to create a little world that the listener can inhabit. Tim cites Tom Waits and Beck
